The Sherline 3.1" 3-Jaw Self-Centering Wood Lathe Chuck (1" X 8 TPI) is a precision tool designed to accommodate most woodworking lathes with its 1"-8 TPI thread. Originally crafted for machine-lathe applications, this chuck offers superior accuracy, surpassing the requirements for standard wood turning tasks. It features a versatile clamping range, allowing for secure gripping of materials with diameters from 3/32" up to 1-3/16" when the jaws are in their normal position. When reversed, the jaws can handle workpieces up to 2-1/4" in diameter. The chuck includes a .687" hole through its center, facilitating various operations.
The design incorporates a knurled ring that enables simultaneous closure of all three jaws, ensuring quick and efficient gripping of round or hexagonal stock. For enhanced leverage, tommy bars are provided, which can be inserted into the side holes to tighten or loosen the chuck as needed. Constructed from durable 12L14 steel, both the chuck body and jaws are built to withstand rigorous use, with the jaws being case-hardened for added resilience.
Note: Ensure proper handling and operation to avoid injury during use.
